I met you last summer at the Okoboji Writers Retreat. You're an extraordinary Iowan. And we realized I went to high school with your dad. Your rural identity is profoundly deep and broad. I will fight the rest of my life to reclaim Iowa as home for all the extraordinary people past present and future who have made, are making or want to make a home here.

Brilliant testimony! I felt called to participate in the protest. I am an 81 year old Iowa born woman and I was waking up every day feeling sad, fearful, and hopeless as I considered the ramifications of Iowa politicians removing rights from a group of Iowa citizens. I am proud to be an ally on the right side of history! 🇺🇸❤️🇺🇸💙🇺🇸

Thank you, Parker! We will never give up because trans rights are human rights and we must continue to fight to see that those rights are restored!

Parker...Thank you for your extraordinarily written piece that appeared in the Cedar Rapids Gazette. I was once proud of our state and now wonder where all of the 'nice' people are hiding. I will not give up hope. We will fight for EVERYONE. Don't give up; don't ever give up! You've got backers you don't even know.

Thank you Parker, for speaking out. You are definitely NOT ALONE. A huge number of Americans are in shock over the events of the past six weeks. Once the shock wears off and the truth sinks in ….we will witness ripples, then waves, then a tsunami of resistance to win back some normalcy, a nation that we can call home rather than just the place we live. Hang in there!

Thank you for your piece in the CR Gazette. You articulated exactly how I have been feeling about what has been happening lately in Iowa. Iowans are loosing their freedom and their health. So sad.

Please know many Iowans in my life do not support the nightmare that is happening.

Our grandson who lives in Iowa is gay, and I feel you expressed our/his sentiments exactly. He intends to move out of state soon, both for professional opportunities and because he feels threatened and unwelcome here. It made me sad and ashamed of this state when they stripped trans people of their civil rights. Iowa is regressing, very quickly.
